• Verify your identity through Aadhaar KYC for platform safety
• Connect renters with item owners in your area
• Process payments and release funds after successful rentals
• Send you updates about your rentals, listings, and account
• Improve our platform based on how users interact with it
• Prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access
• Comply with legal obligations under Indian law
• Send you early access updates and product announcements (you can unsubscribe anytime)

3. Aadhaar & KYC Data

We take Aadhaar data extremely seriously. In compliance with UIDAI guidelines and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023:

• Aadhaar OTP verification is done through licensed KYC providers only
• We do not store your Aadhaar number on our servers
• Only the verification status (verified/not verified) is stored
• KYC data is never sold or shared with third parties for commercial purposes
• You can request deletion of your KYC data by contacting us

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

• KYC Partners (Digio/Surepass) — for identity verification only
• Payment Partners (Razorpay/UPI) — for processing transactions
• Firebase/Google — for database, analytics, and authentication
• Law Enforcement — only when required by Indian law or court order

Other users see only your first name, city, and listing details — never your Aadhaar, phone, or financial info.

5. Data Storage & Security

• All data is stored on Google Firebase servers (asia-south1, Mumbai region)
• Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest
• Access to your data is restricted to authorized Renten team members only
• We conduct regular security reviews of our systems

6. Cookies & Tracking

Our website uses:

• Session cookies — to keep you logged in during your visit
• Analytics tracking — to understand how users use our website (page visits, button clicks, scroll depth)
• IP-based location — to show your approximate city for relevant listings

We do not use advertising cookies or sell your browsing data to advertisers.

7. Your Rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate personal data
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time

8. Data Retention

• Active account data: retained while your account is active
• Transaction records: retained for 7 years (as required by Indian tax law)
• KYC verification status: retained for the duration of your account

• Deleted accounts: all personal data removed within 90 days

9. Children's Privacy

Renten is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately.
